The supply and installation of Christmas decorations to offices and workplaces across the south east is a large part of our winter business and of course, the ‘current situation’ as we are still compelled to call it, has had an effect on orders this year.
Many workplaces have chosen to remain closed, or partially open until the New Year and even our crack sales team would struggle to persuade businesses to decorate empty offices.
But…
In the midst of all this, a beacon appeared, and it arrived in the spectacular form of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Europe Ltd.
Rather than cancel their Christmas order, they asked if we could transfer it to one of their favourite local charities, Sebastian’s Action Trust in Crowthorne, a remarkable organisation providing emotional, social and practical care for life-limited and life-threatened children and their families.
Now, you can talk all you want about Corporate Social Responsibility programmes, but this was more than that. This enormously generous gesture was made immediately, without a thought for marketing plans and potential positive outcomes, it was one set of wonderful human beings recognising an opportunity to help and doing so without hesitation.
In writing this little blog, we took a closer look at Otsuka, a Japanese company with an HQ in Buckinghamshire and these rather splendid words leaped out of their website… In Europe, we may be geographically distant from our roots but we still hold true to the Japanese principles of ‘Ryukan-godo’, ‘Jissho’ and ‘Sosozei’. This means that every day we strive to channel our passion and commitment into improving the health of our patients.’
Here at Green Team, we have our own set of principles that we call ‘A Better Way’, not only do we wholeheartedly echo the sentiments expressed by Otsuka but we also recognise in them, principles that we should all hold dear… Kindness, Compassion and a Readiness to Contribute.
Thank You, Otsuka.
