Last month, you may have seen our blog on the Rocket Science project that has been launched by the RHS Campaign for School Gardening. The project is aiming to get thousands of green-fingered school pupils from across the country involved with growing seeds that have been kept in space to see how their growth characteristics differ from those kept on earth.

After 6 months of preparation hundreds of miles above the earth, we were delighted to see that the 2kg of rocket seeds have safely made their way back from the International Space Station! The seeds landed in Asia last week with US astronaut, Scott Kelly, and will now make their way to NASA in Houston before returning to the UK next month.

Over 8,000 schools have applied to the project, including some of our Hampshire’s very own. We look forward to seeing how Berrywood Primary, Rockwood Primary, St Swithun’s Junior School and The Pilgrims’ Pre-Prep get on with their experiments!
