We are always on the hunt for research surrounding our favourite topic, the benefits of plants, and were delighted to see that according to a new study conducted by the University of Melbourne, being around nature really is good for your brain! The research found that looking at plants and flowers, even just for a few seconds, can boost concentration levels and allow you to complete mind-numbing tasks easily.

A group of 150 students were assigned the task of watching random numbers flash up on screen and pressing a key every time a new digit appeared. This intentionally got boring for participants very quickly, so they were given a 40-second break. Half looked at an image of a bare, concrete rooftop, while the other was shown the same image but covered in flowers instead.

After returning to their set task, the students who looked at the floral image were found to perform significantly better after making fewer errors and concentrating better. And that was just from looking at a photo of some plants; imagine how productive you could be with a bunch of floral additions to your desk!

With the year rapidly drawing to a close, what better time to add a few plants to your office to brighten the space and help to increase the productivity of employees too!
