Every now and then we come across an article sharing our passion for plants. This month, the spotlight falls on a video from the Wall Street Journal highlighting the benefits of plants in a working environment.
Not only do plants bring a splash of colour to the workplace, especially during the dark wintery months, they boost mood, health and productivity. Justin Hancock, a professional horticulturist, explains how plants clean the air, helping to reduce headaches, sore throats and coughs. The US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) suggests that indoor air is 5-6 times more harmful than outdoor air and plants can help filter the mould and bacteria out of the air by 50-60%.
In the video, Justin also mentions a study from Texas A&M University, which we have previously brought to light, which tested men and women in rooms with and without plants. The men in rooms with plants came up with more ideas when they were problem solving and the women came up with more creative solutions. To read more about this study, click here.
