Every now and then, we come across a great article outlining some of the many benefits of plants, particularly in the workplace, which we love to share with you. This month, we focus on research from Human Spaces, an online platform dedicated to biophilic design and the exploration of how the built environment affects our health and wellbeing.
A report recently published by Human Spaces on offices based in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, highlighted that 55% of office workers surveyed had no living plants in their working environment, with 42% also claiming that their workplace provided minimal light.
A lack of these natural elements in a working environment can lead to a poor state of general wellbeing, consequently effecting productivity and employee perception. The report concludes that increasing biophilia, “an instinctive bond between humans and nature”, in the workplace can have a positive impact on workplace productivity and output.
